New UK Print House 'Vice Press' To Produce Officially Licensed Prints From 2000AD Comic

Established by artist Matt Ferguson and James Henshaw, Vice Press is a new UK based print house focused on producing fully licensed artwork and screen printed posters featuring primarily British and European properties from movies, television and literature, and they will be working with both up and coming and well known artists from around the world to produce new and distinctive works of art.

Their first licensing agreement is with with Rebellion for an ongoing series of limited edition, original art and screen-printed posters featuring characters and titles from the pages of the galaxy’s greatest comic, 2000 AD and Judge Dredd Megazine. Characters such as Judge Dredd, Strontium Dog, Rogue Trooper and many more will be faithfully rendered in limited edition, collectible pieces of artwork by some of the best artists, designers and illustrators working today.

And to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of 2000 AD in 2017, Vice Press will also be releasing in a limited edition art book featuring reproductions of much of the artwork released.

Following the recent release of Jacques Tati’s 'François à l’Américaine', by Laurent Durieux, Nautilus Art Prints, in collaboration with Les Films de Mon Oncle, presents the next two screen prints in this great Tati series: 'Mon Oncle', by Tom Whalen and 'Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot' by David Merveille.

'Mr Hulot', Jacques Tati’s second self, is one of the most endearing characters of 20th century cinema and 60 years after his debut on the big screen it is still easy to connect with him. With a constantly changing society, rapidly advancing technologies how can we, like him, not feel completely giddy?

Both sets are 24" x 36" 7 colour screenprints. Tom Whalen's 'Mon Oncle' prints are in a numbered limited edition of 150 for €50/$56 in the regular and in a limited edition of 58 for €75/$84 for the variant. David Merveille's 'Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot' prints are in a signed and numbered limited edition 150 for €50/$56 in the regular and in a limited edition of 53 for €75/$84 for the variant.

'Star Wars Planets' by Justin van Genderen, were originally printed over three years ago and have long since sold out. Justin revisited these designs and added new life with varying textures, colour variants, metallic inks, and interesting embellishments.

They were available exclusively at C2E2 in Chicago last weekend at the Galerie F booth, and now they have a set of four designs available as prints.

They are 16" x 24" prints, each in a signed and numbered limited edition of 60 and cost $45. There are also metallic variants (in a limited edition of 30), and kraft variants (in a very limited edition of 5) editions of the prints.

Cool Art: 'Siren I, II & III' by Phil Noto

'Siren I, II & III' by Phil Noto, is part of 'Triumvirate', an art show hosted by Gauntlet Gallery, where each artist produced a set of three works to be viewed as a mini-series, allowing each work to stand alone while at the same time carrying a conceptual connection to each other. The display, determined by the artists, will vividly show the independence and relationship among the set.

The show opens Saturday April 25 from 7.30-10pm and will be on display until May 16.

2015 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award Nominees Announced

The nominees for the 2015 Annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, given for creative achievement in American comic books, often referred to as the Comics Industry's equivalent of the Oscar Awards, have been announced.

The nominees, chosen by a blue-ribbon panel of judges, reflect the wide range of material being published in comics and graphic novel form today, from superheroes, to nursery rhymes and high school angst and pulp fiction.

The awards will be presented in a special ceremony Friday July 10 during this year's San Diego Comic-Con

Cool Art: 'Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron Art Showcase' presented by Hero Complex Gallery

Hero Complex Gallery have announced the biggest pop-culture art event of the year to celebrate the biggest movie of the year!

From Friday April 24 and on display until May 17, the exhibition will showcase exclusive artwork from nearly 100 artists, including originals, sculptures, mega-metals and more, all inspired by Marvel’s 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.

Opening Reception is on Friday April 24, 7-10pm at Hero Complex Gallery, 2020 South Robertson Blvd, Studio D, Los Angeles, CA 90034, and, HCG are also giving away free custom collectible chocolate bars for opening night attendees while supplies last!

Cool Art: 'Wild Things' by Leilani Bustamante

'Wild Things' by Leilani Bustamante, part of 'Storybook: An Art Journey Through Childhood's Best Remembered Stories' art exhibition that opens this weekend at Modern Eden Gallery.

Modern Eden Gallery presents the third curated exhibition by photojournalist Michael Cuffe, Editor in Chief of the international arts documagazine Warholian. The exhibition features over 65 artists from a range of styles and mediums to interpret beloved childhood narratives in their own unique styles, fantastically recreated with creative approaches and from adult perspectives.

The opening reception is on Saturday, April 25 from 6-10pm at Modern Eden Gallery, 801 Greenwich Street, San Francisco, CA 94133 with Exhibition Curator, Michael Cuffe and select participating artists also in attendance at the reception. The exhibition will be on display through May 9.

Cool Art: 'Journey' by Mark Englert

'Journey' by Mark Englert, is a new limited edition print release from iam8bit, and is also the cover art for a special 2 x LP picture disc vinyl album of the 'Journey' video game soundtrack.

The print is a 36" x 12" 9 colour screenprint including pearlescent metallic inks, in a signed and numbered limited edition of 350 and costs $60.

The gatefold vinyl album, composed by Austin Wintory and cover art by Mark Englert, costs $35.
