#CoolArt: Winners of the 2019 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize Announced
The winners of the 2019 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize have been announced.
The Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize celebrates diversity and excellence in the representational visual arts, in all static mediums including Traditional Art media, Digital Art media, and Photographic media; and all genres from realism and hyper-realism, to pop surrealism and lowbrow. The Prize seeks to inspire creatives from around the world to pursue a life and career in the arts, and to help careers grow through increased exposure of their work to the global arts community.
The winners in each category get to have their artworks exhibited alongside over 50 of the best contemporary artists in a Beautiful Bizarre Magazine curated exhibition at Haven Gallery, win cash and product prizes, editorial in Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, advertising packages, and receive worldwide exposure.
The jury panel for the awards included Jeremy Geddes (Traditional Art), Tom Bagshaw (Digital Art), Crystal Morey (Sculpture), Haris Nukem (Photography), representatives from sponsors INPRNT and Stocksy United, the Directors of Haven Gallery - Erica and Joseph, and Beautiful Bizarre Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Danijela Krha Purssey and Co-Founder Richard Purssey. Over 7,500 public votes contributed to the Winner of the People’s Choice Award.

2019 Nommo Awards Winners Announced by the ASFS
The 2019 Nommo Awards winners have been announced by the ASFS (African Speculative Fiction Society), an organization of African writers, artists, editors, and publishers in science fiction, fantasy, horror, and related genres.
The Nommo Awards recognize works of speculative fiction by Africans, defined as "Science Fiction and Fantasy, and the broadest possible definition of speculative/fantastical fiction including horror, slipstream, interstitial, stories based on traditional beliefs, alternate history etc. An inclusive rather than exclusive term designed to include most especially any distinctively African forms that may develop."
The awards take their name from Dogon cosmology, and the ancestral spirits / deities who take a variety of forms, including appearing on land as fish, walking on their tails.
The awards were presented during the opening ceremony of the Aké Arts & Books Festival in Nigeria on Thursday October 24 2019.
