Winners of the 28th Annual DICE awards, honouring and celebrating the best video games from 2024, have been announced by the Academy Of Interactive Arts And Sciences.

Since 1996, the DICE Awards (a backronym for Design Innovate Communicate Entertain) have recognized games, individuals and development teams that have contributed to the advancement of the worldwide entertainment software industry.

The Geeky Nerfherder 13th Anniversary & My 2024 Favourites

Today, December 29 is the birthday of this nerdy blog, beginning all the way back, 13 years ago on this day in 2011 with the obligatory introductory blog post.

 

From the start, the aim of the blog has always been to showcase inspiring, cool art and pop culture geekery, from poster art, comic art, book and magazine cover art to the artworks on view from the latest new contemporary exhibitions, and the artists that create them.

 

The blog is still a lot of fun to curate, even after all these years; discovering the latest cool art, cover art, print releases and gallery shows, showcasing art from some of my favourite artists in my long running 'Artist Spotlight' series (working my way through artists A-Z and currently at the letter R), as well as starting each day with an #ArtOfTheDay post - something random from the Geeky Nerfherder image archives.

Although I've stopped posting to Twitter/X, and now posting on Bluesky, I'm still active on the socials and they continue to gain new followers, even with the algorithms doing their best to limit any visibility and with the influx of AI slop (which I will NOT post on the blog or my socials), the number of followers is still in the thousands! WOW! Thank you so much!! It's always humbling and amazing to know that other people are also enjoying the artworks I'm posting and hopefully discovering new favourite artists along the way as well. The Winners of the 2024 Annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards Announced

The winners of the 2024 Annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards for works published between January 1 and December 31, 2023, given for creative achievement in American comic books, often referred to as the Comics Industry's equivalent of the Oscar Awards, have been announced.

The winners were announced on July 26 2024 during the San Diego Comic Con weekend.

Winners of the 2024 Nebula Awards Anounced

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America have announced the winners of this year’s Nebula Awards for works first published in 2023, along with contenders for the Ray Bradbury and Andre Norton Awards.

Each year, the organization’s members vote on which stories they consider to be the best novel, novella, novelette, short story and Young Adult story in the genre, as well as the best game writing and best outstanding dramatic presentation.

The Nebula Awards were announced on June 8 at the 2024 Nebula Conference in Pasadena, California.
