'Canned Laughter' Short Film Kickstarter Campaign by Chris Brake

'Canned Laughter' is a short film that tells the story of Deirdre Gossamer, a retired comedian who has knitted herself an audience in lieu of performing to a real one.

But when one of her home-made punters comes to life and destroys her career memorabilia, she’s forced to re-think her attachment to the ‘glory days’ and face the once unthinkable prospect of moving on...

Written and directed by Chris Brake, an award-winning writer / director and a graduate of the London Film School, 'Canned Laughter', features the puppetry skills of award-winning London-based puppet artist, Oliver James Hymans, and follows in the footsteps of other 'faded star' films that explore the trappings of fame and its toxic allure for those who have lost it. Films like 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?' and 'Sunset Boulevard' that have characters in a state of arrested development at their heart.

Check out the video for the Kickstarter campaign below and go here for more information. Be quick, as the campaign ends on May 19 2021.

Cool Art: 'Historic Robotic Spacecraft' Poster Series by Chop Shop

'Historic Robotic Spacecraft' is a Kickstarter poster series by Chop Shop that celebrates the most popular and notable interplanetary NASA robotic space missions - Voyager, Cassini/Huygens and Curiosity.

Each space mission poster was chosen through an online poll and will be screen-printed in a minimum of three colors by Vahalla Studios, and there are various other perks in this campaign, including T shirts, additional prints and even membership to The Planetary Society, which was founded in 1980 by Carl Sagan, Bruce Murray, and Louis Friedman.

There's just under a week to go and the campaign is fully funded with the total currently just over $17k. But the more you pledge the more prints that become available through their stretch goals.

If they go over $22K, they will design and print the fourth most popular mission from the Planetary Society poll: The Mars Exploration Rovers; Opportunity and Spirit.

Go over $28K, and the fifth most popular mission from the Planetary Society poll: Sputnik will be designed and printed.

And if they go over $34K, they will design and print a poster celebrating The Planetary Society itself and donate 300 copies to them for sale on their own site to help support the institution and their goals.
