Gordon's Alive! Dynamite Comics to Release New 'Flash Gordon' Comic Series In April

Dynamite Entertainment continues to bring back the pulp heroes (John Carter, Doc Savage, The Phantom to name a few), and celebrates the 80th anniversary of 'Flash Gordon' by releasing a new ongoing comic series featuring the space adventurer in April.

The new series will be a spin-off from the 'Kings Watch' crossover mini-series, featuring Mandrake The Magician and The Phantom and will re-introducing Dale Arden, Dr. Hans Zarkov, Ming the Merciless and Flash as he journeys to the planet Mongo.The series will be written by 'Kings Watch' writer Jeff Parker, with art by Evan 'Doc' Shaner and colours from Jordie Bellaire.

“We’re bringing Flash back for a new audience,” said Jeff Parker about the new monthly series. “It’s over-the-planet high action and adventure where Flash’s spirit and optimism are as powerful as anything the forces of Ming the Merciless can dish out.”

Flash Gordon #1 will also feature cover variants by Gabriel Hardman, Jonathan Case, Declan Shalvey, and Marc Laming, as well as a Stephen Mooney 80th Anniversary Cover, a Ken Haeser Subscription-Only Variant Cover of 'Li’l Flash' and a blank Authentix Cover.

Flash Gordon #1 is slated for release on April 9, 2014, and will also be available for individual customer purchase through Comixology, iVerse, and Dark Horse Digital.
