Cool Art: 'Stardust' Limited Edition Print Boxset by Charles Vess

'Stardust, Being a Romance Within the Realms of Faerie', written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Charles Vess, follows the adventures of a young man from the village of Wall that borders the magical land of Faerie.

The twelve illustrations from the novel are now available as a limited edition boxset. Six of the images appeared in the original illustrated version of 'Stardust', while the remaining six were done after the publication as private commissions or for limited editions of the book. The 14" x 16.5" prints are collected in a sturdy blue leatherette box with a silver foil-stamped exterior. A duo-tone cover-sheet introduces the collection, and a silk lifting ribbon is included for gentle handling. All boxed set prints have the same (limited) number, and each print is divided with acid-free paper.

The box sets are in a limited edition of 250 and cost $1200. They are also available individually for $120. And all prints are hand signed by both Neil Gaiman and Charles Vess.

New Hardback Print of Neil Gaiman's 'Stardust'

New cover
One of my favourite authors, Neil Gaiman (The Sandman, American Gods, Coraline, The Graveyard Book and more), is releasing a new hardcover print of his 1997 novel, 'Stardust' later this year.

As with most things, I saw the 2007 movie starring Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro first, which I loved, and just had to hunt down the original book which I also now love. And I've been after a hardcover copy of this book for a while now.

This new hardcover print edition - 'The Gift Edition' - will also feature frontispiece illustrations and chapter headings by acclaimed fantasy artist Charles Vess, the original illustrator of the book.

Check out the painted frontispiece illustrations below.

There's a regular edition and there will also be a signed limited very fancy and quite expensive edition.

The Art Of Pop Culture: Charles Vess

Continuing to showcase artwork by some of my favourite pop culture artists. This time it's the work of Charles Vess.

Charles Vess is fantasy artist and comic-book illustrator who has specialised in the illustration of myths and fairy tales.

I first discovered his artwork whilst reading Neil Gaiman's The Sandman comic books and Gaiman's Stardust in years gone by, also in some of the covers to the Swamp Thing comic books in the 1990's.

For more information about Charles Vess, check out the official website.
