#CoolArt: 'Star Trek: 50 Artists. 50 Years' Art Exhibition

'Star Trek: 50 Artists. 50 Years', a new art exhibit created to commemorate Star Trek’s 50th anniversary, featuring Star Trek-inspired works by 50 artists from around the globe, including one by Leonard Nimoy, the franchise’s iconic Spock and a renowned photographer.

The exhibit will include original 2D and 3D pieces by the artists, who selected a variety of mediums - illustrations, photographs, sculptures, paintings, graphics and more - to express their love of the franchise and the inspiration gained from it.

The art exhibition will debut at Michael J Wolf Gallery in San Diego’s historic Gaslight Quarter from July 21-24, during the 2016 San Diego Comic Con weekend, then travelling to Las Vegas, Toronto CA, New York, and Birmingham, UK.

GeekyNerfherder at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016

Had great time at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 on the Friday and Saturday I attended. Managed to catch a couple of the panels (Star Wars Publishing and the Marvel Comics panels), which were pretty cool and interesting in what's coming soon. Lots of cool stuff on the show floors and the 'Rogue One' costumes exhibit was good to wander through.

Over all, a great couple of days if you're a Star Wars fan! Next on my comic con calendar is the London Film and Comic Con in two weeks, looking forward to that.

Here are some pics I took throughout the two days at Star Wars Celebration.

Happy Birthday Star Trek!

Created by Gene Roddenberry, 'Star Trek' was first broadcast on NBC on this day, September 8, back in 1966 with the episode 'The Man Trap'.

Despite NBC cancelling it after three seasons and 79 episodes later due to low ratings, 'Star Trek' has had a major influence on popular culture and when the show was broadcast in syndication during the 1970s it gained popularity and became the cult classic phenomenon we know of today.

The Star Wars Celebration Europe Art Show will showcase the talents of artists from around the globe, including England, Canada, Japan, and the United States.

These exclusive art prints will only be sold at Celebration in Essen, Germany this July 26-28 (the first time a Star Wars Celebrations event has been held in Europe) as all prints must be picked up at the show. No prints will be shipped. These very limited offerings of fine Star Wars art have become a tradition at Celebrations.

Each artist has a limited number of prints that are available for purchase online before the show begins and will be saving at least 50 prints to sell on site.
