Artist Spotlight: The Art Of . . . Aaron Miller

In the few short years 'The Geeky Nerfherder' blog has been going, I've discovered a lot of great art by a lot of superbly talented artists, and the list is ever-growing. I'm always discovering new art and artists - from blogs, by following artists and galleries through social media, and from thumbing through artbooks like Spectrum and more.

My interest isn't just in pop culture and vintage pulp art, but also in the fantastical imaginative realism and contemporary art. Art that explores the imagination of the artists, bringing their visions to life using traditional and digital paintings, drawings, illustration, sculpting, or collage.

I've previously showcased a few of my favourite pop culture and vintage pulp artists, and each weekend I'll be featuring art from more of my favourite artists, many of which I've featured before on the blog, as well as on my Instagram, Tumblr and Pinterest, when they've released new works, had their work in art exhibitions or just posting favourites from their portfolio.

I begin my Artist Spotlight series with the art of Aaron Miller.

Cool Art: 'Magic the Gathering: Journey Into Nyx'

'Magic the Gathering' launches the third and final set in the 'Theros' block, 'Journey Into Nyx', this weekend. And once again, the art that features on the cards is simply stunning, and for me, the reason why I collect the cards.

I'd also recommend reading 'Theros: Godsend, Part I', the e-book by Jenna Helland, that builds up the back story to the events in the 'Theros' block. The next ebook in the 'Theros' series, also written by Jenna Helland, should be out in May to coincide with the release of 'Journey Into Nyx' as well.

Check out the trailer and some of the awesome card art from 'Journey Into Nyx' below, and head to artofmtg.com for lots more.
