Cool Art: Street Art From The 'Murals In The Market' Festival In Detroit

From September 17-25, more than 45 new murals were created as part of  1xRUN’s 'Murals In The Market' festival in Detroit’s Historic Eastern Market district.

45 local and international artists were invited to the city's first mural festival, painting massive walls with waves of colour and cultivating a contagious artistic energy that transformed the city into an epicenter of the contemporary public art movement.

Events included during the 9 day street art festival included intimate talks with legendary New York City documentary photographer Martha Cooper, progressive Parisian street artist Kashink as well as New Zealand’s Askew plus a Featured Artist Exhibition at Inner State Gallery. Artists also participated in the Detroit’s Slow Roll bike ride taking a unique look at the city in one of it’s newest weekly traditions, and took in the sights and sounds of Detroit’s finest musicians at TV Lounge.

Inner State Gallery presents 'Murals In The Market' artist exhibition, featuring 40 world-class local and international artists.

The inaugural 'Murals In The Market' mural festival is currently transforming Detroit’s Historic Eastern Market district into the epicenter of the city’s burgeoning public art movement with dozens of large scale murals created over nine days. The artist exhibition at Inner State Gallery will feature over 50 new works of original art by all participating artists.

The artist reception is Wednesday September 23 from 7-10pm at Inner State Gallery,1410 Gratiot Avenue, Detroit, MI 48207 and will be on display until September 25.

Oh My Disney and Mondo present 'Nothing's Impossible', a Disney themed art show, featuring some of Mondo’s most renowned artists like Martin Ansin, Jeff Soto, Jason Edmiston, Aaron Horkey, Ken Taylor, JC Richard and Tom Whalen. The art exhibition will be at the Mondo Gallery at 4115 Guadalupe St. in Austin, TX, during the South by Southwest Film Festival from March 7-March 11.

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', Disney will be presenting a special one off screening of the film on October 31 at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood and also with a special limited edition print.

The posters are 18" x 24" numbered silkscreen prints and each includes a General admission ticket to 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' in 4D at a screening time of your choice. The regular blue edition is in a limited edition of 300 and costs $60, while the purple variant is limited to 125 and costs $75.
