#CoolArt: Copro Gallery present the 'Heavy Metal 40th Anniversary Art Show'

Copro Gallery and Heavy Metal Magazine present the 'Heavy Metal 40th Anniversary Art Show', celebrating 40 years of sci-fi, fantasy and comic art featuring over eighty artists and art from Heavy Metal’s 40 year history of publishing, new paintings and drawings inspired by the magazine, cel art from the film, limited edition prints, vintage film posters, T-shirts, comics, vintage magazines, memorabilia and more.

In addition to vintage artwork and newly created paintings, new limited edition prints will be released each week, available at the gallery and online. 

Opening reception is Saturday July 15, from 8pm until 11pm PT at Copro Gallery, Bergamot Station Arts Complex, 2525 Michigan Ave, Unit T5, Santa Monica , CA 90404, with many of the artists in attendance. The exhibition is on display until August 19.

Abend Gallery presents 'Inner Visions: Contemporary Imaginative Realism', a group art exhibition curated by Patrick and Jeannie Wilshire, Directors of IX Arts, bringing together over 70 artists covering the gamut of contemporary imaginative realism, showcasing the remarkable diversity of work being created under its banner.

The show includes upcoming young artists side by side with award-winning, world renowned painters with multiple monographs dedicated to their work.

#CoolArt: Krab Jab Studio presents 'Dream Covers (Artists Illustrating Their Favorite Books)'

Krab Jab Studio presents 'Dream Covers', a group art exhibition, curated by Lauren Panepinto; curator of Every Day Original and Creative Director at Orbit Books, Yen Press and Redhook, where the artists participating have reimagined the cover art from their favourite books.

The show will also be juried by a trio of well-respected professional Art Directors: Irene Gallo, Creative Director of Tor Books and Tor.com, Jon Schindehette, Creative Director of ThinkGeek Solutions, and Zoë Robinson, Art Director for Fantasy Flight Games, with the winning design on the show catalogue cover, which will be released for purchase later this month.

After each illustration was completed, Lauren designed typography to turn each into a full book cover. Both the covers, complete with typography, and the original paintings will be on show.

The participating artists include Marc Scheff, Tran Nguyen, Rebecca Yanovskaya, Jeremy Wilson, Laurie Lee Brom, Brom, Wylie Beckert, Dan Dos Santos, Dave Palumbo, Scott Fischer, Allen Williams, Chris Buzelli, Rovina Cai, Vanessa Lemen, Winona Nelson, Julie Bell, Boris Vallejo, Anthony Palumbo, and Kimberly Kincaid.

The opening reception is on Saturday April 9 from 6-9pm at Krab Jab Studio, 5628 Airport Way S, Ste 150 Seattle, WA 98108, and at 7.30pm Lauren will also be holding a curator talk. Artists Brom, Laurie Lee Brom, Marc Scheff, Chris Buzelli, Jeremy Wilson, Wylie Beckert will be in attendance. The exhibition will be on view until May 7.

On Friday April 8 from 7-9pm, Krab Jab Studio will be hosting a panel discussion between four renowned illustrators from the exhbition: Brom, Laurie Lee Brom, Jeremy Wilson, and Marc Scheff. The panel will be moderated by Lauren Panepinto, creative director and book cover designer.
