Review: The Art Of Brave

This a gorgeous book!

Introduced by John Lasseter, and with a forward by the film's co-directors Brenda Chapman and Mark Andrews, The Art Of Brave shows off the superb conceptual art, including storyboards, character studies and environmental art from artists like Steve Pilcher, Noah Klocek, Daniel Lopez Munoz, Mike Mignola and many more, plus sculptures by Greg Dykstra and Andrea Blasich along with gorgeous photos of the behind the scenes process of making the film.

Be warned though, as it features some of the storyboards from the finished film, it does give away certain plot points that you might not want to know before watching the film when it's out in cinemas this summer (June 22 US / August 17 UK).

Aside from that though, packed with so much gorgeous art you'll just want to stare at, the book is very much worth adding to your bookcase!

Brave - Behind The Scenes Featurette

Another Brave featurette has popped up online, this time with director Mark Andrews and some of the cast members detailing the film.

I'm really looking forward to this, not just because it's Pixar and set in Scotland (being part Scottish I may be a wee bit biased!). The trailers and featurettes released so far are giving out that fun vibe. Unfortunately the lucky pups in the US get to see this June 22, whilst the UK has to wait until August 17!!!! No fair!

Book Review: Prometheus - The Art Of The Film

With a film that has definitely polarised audiences, for the record I liked it - here's my take on the film - but after reading this movie art book from Titan Books, there is no doubt that a lot of detail was put into the making of Prometheus.

Presented in the usual hardback art format, the book is introduced by director Ridley Scott, and Production Designer Arthur Max, and is packed full of gorgeous conceptual art, sculptures, sketches, including a selection of storyboards by Ridley Scott himself, plus photos from behind the scenes and from the final film.

But, as is the way with these types of books, it is always recommended that you see the film before picking this up. With all the luscious design art documenting the making of the film from start to finish, there are a ton of spoilers, especially from the last act of the film. But if you have seen the film, it might also answer a few questions about the film that you might have after you come out of the cinema, or raise a few more.

Overall, if you like the film, love behind the scenes look at films, or love conceptual art then I would say get yourself a copy of this book. Money definitely well spent!

Game Of Thrones Banners by Rhys Cooper

Here are a set of banners from the Houses of Westeros from Game Of Thrones, by one of my favourite artists, Rhys Cooper.

The Stark, Baratheon and Night's Watch were previously available as a set, but he's recently released two more; Lannister and Greyjoy.
