Second Trailer for 'OZ: The Great And Powerful'

This is starting to maybe look good. I still can't quite shake off the feeling that it kind of reminds me of Tim Burton's 'Alice In Wonderland' though.

'OZ: The Great And Powerful' will be out in cinemas on March 8 2013.

  1. Yeah, there is that "Alice-Burton" look to the effects, I can live with that. Personally I think the line "I don't want to die, I haven't accomplished anything" sounds hokey and a bit too on the nose. Also it looks like we're in for another "Liar Revealed" kind of set up.

I'm a bit bothered how much this plot element of "as long as the lie keeps you going that's all that matters" seems to come up in recent years, particularly in children's films; Bug's Life, Astro Boy, How to Train Your Dragon, Rango plus grown up movies like The Dark Knight and The King's Speech.

Its not even the moral aspect that bothers me so much its become such a prevalent trope that it makes for a predictable third act twist.

    1. I see what you mean. That plot set up really is widespread when you think about it. I suppose it might work in this film, but yes, like you say, I'm sure there will be that Hollywood staple of a third act reveal twist. Again!
