Winners of the 2023 SFWA Nebula Awards Announced

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America have announced the winners of this year’s Nebula Awards for works first published in 2022, along with the winners of the Ray Bradbury and Andre Norton Awards and special awards.

Each year, the organization’s members vote on which stories they consider to be the best novel, novella, novelette, short story and Young Adult story in the genre, as well as the best game writing and best outstanding dramatic presentation.

The Nebula Awards were announced on May 14 2023.
 

Novel

  • Babel, RF Kuang (Harper Voyager US; Harper Voyager UK)

 

Novella

  • Even Though I Knew The End, CL Polk (Tordotcom)

 

Novelette

  • “If You Find Yourself Speaking to God, Address God with the Informal You”, John Chu (Uncanny 7–8/22)

 

Short Story

  • “Rabbit Test”, Samantha Mills (Uncanny 11–12/22)

 

Game Writing

  • Elden Ring, Hidetaka Miyazaki, George RR Martin (FromSoftware, Bandai Namco)

 

Andre Norton Nebula Award for Middle Grade and Young Adult Fiction

  • Ruby Finley vs the Interstellar Invasion, K Tempest Bradford (Farrar, Straus, Giroux)

 

Ray Bradbury Nebula Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation

  • Everything Everywhere All At Once, Dan Kwan, Daniel Scheinert (A24, AGBO, IAC Films)

SFWA Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award

  • Robin McKinley

SFWA Infinity Award, to posthumously honour acclaimed creators who passed away before they could be considered for a Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award

  • Octavia E Butler (posthumously)

Kevin J O'Donnell Jr Services To SFWA Award

  • Mishell Baker

Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award, for significant contributions to the science fiction, fantasy, and related genres community

  • Cerece Renee Murphy
  • Greg Bear (posthumously)
