Winners of the 61st Annual SFWA Nebula Awards Announced

Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) have announced the winners of the 61st annual Nebula Awards for works first published in 2025, along with the winners of the Ray Bradbury and Andre Norton Awards.

Each year, the organization’s members vote on which stories they consider to be the best novel, novella, novelette, short story and Young Adult story in the genre, as well as the best game writing and best outstanding dramatic presentation.

The Nebula Awards was presented in a ceremony on Saturday June 6 in Chicago as part of the 61st Annual Nebula Awards Conference. 

The Nebula Award for Best Novel

  • The Buffalo Hunter Hunter, by Stephen Graham Jones (Saga; Titan UK)


The Nebula Award for Best Novella

  • The River Has Roots, by Amal El-Mohtar (Tordotcom; Arcadia)


The Nebula Award for Best Novelette

  • “Uncertain Sons”, by Thomas Ha (Uncertain Sons)


The Nebula Award for Best Short Story

  • “Laser Eyes Ain’t Everything”, by Effie Seiberg (Diabolical Plots 5/25)


The Andre Norton Nebula Award for Middle Grade and Young Adult Fiction

  • Into the Wild Magic, by Michelle Knudsen (Candlewick)


The Nebula Award for Best Game Writing

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, by Guillaume Broche, & Jennifer Svedberg-Yen (Kepler Interactive), Developer: Sandfall Interactive, Sandfall SAS.


The Ray Bradbury Nebula Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation

  • Murderbot: Season One, by Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz (Apple TV+)


The Nebula Award for Best Comic

  • Mary Shelley’s School for Monsters: The Killing Stone, by Jessica Maison (Wicked Tree)


The Nebula Award for Best Poem

  • “The World To Come”, by Jennifer Hudak (Strange Horizons 12/22/25)
