Ranging from specific artists (Charles Vess and Drew Struzan), to video games (Final Fantasy IX and the Mass Effect series) and mostly movies (John Carter, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Spirited Away, Prometheus and more), I love 'The Art Of' books and have quite a few on my bookshelf. And it looks like there will be an addition to the bookshelf with the release of 'The Art Of Journey' art book.
Released in September, take inside look at the art and inspirations that went into the
award-winning Journey from developer thatgamecompany and Santa Monica
Studio, and get a sneak peak at the premium hardcover art book with the trailer below.
The book, designed and written by and Matt Nava, art director on Journey, and in conjunction with BLUECANVAS Magazine
provides an insider’s view into the stylistic influences, narrative
functions, and game design goals that shaped the final look of the
game. Readers will discover how Journey’s landscapes, cut-scenes, and
much-loved robed traveler came to be. The Art of
Journey will come bound as an embossed hardcover book filled with
gorgeous concept art, intricate pencil drawings, and 3D models printed
in full color on art-quality paper, and will be accompanied by a voucher that will allow
readers to download a free copy of the game’s soundtrack to their PS3.
Journey is available exclusively for PlayStation®3.
Download it today on the PlayStation®Network, or pick up the Journey
Collector's Edition disc bundle at participating retailers (US only).
