Release Dates For The Hobbit Films Announced

With Peter Jackson recently announcing that his The Hobbit films were now to be a trilogy instead of the originally planned two movies, Warner Bros and MGM have now announced the release dates for all three films.

The first film of the trilogy, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, kicks things off on December 14, 2012. The second film, now titled, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens on December 13, 2013. The final film of the series, The Hobbit: There and Back Again - which was originally the title of the second chapter - will be released on July 18, 2014, a change from the usual winter scheduling.

So with Peter Jackson exploring through The Lord Of The Rings appendices that expand on the original The Hobbit tale, I'm fairly looking forward to seeing these films.
